A species of flowering plant native to southern Mexico and Panama, Monstera is a hardy and easy to care for plant known by many names, but most commonly the “Swiss cheese plant” due the unique development of ridges and holes on its more mature leaves, known as fenestrations.

Monstera thrives in a warm, well-lit position, however, keep away from direct sunlight. The soil can be slightly damp, but not saturated.

A light misting will also help create that ideal humid environment.

It is quite rare for an indoor Monstera to flower. If it happens to you, it's best to remove the flower as it does suck all of the plants' energy to produce the flower, and it can be quite an intrusive scent.
